THE DREAM OF ANGUS In the time of the Tuatha de Danaan, when gods took the form of men, the greatest of them all was the Dagda. He fell in love with Boann, goddess of the river Boyne, and from him she gave birth to a beautiful son, Aengus Og - Aengus the Young. He was conceived and born in one beautiful night, for Boann was married to another, and the Dagda slowed down the sun so that she would not be missed. Nine months passed as a single night or a single night lasted nine months. Boann loved her son. His radiant countenance was one of such peace that four bright birds hovered around him. So beautiful was their singing that all who heard them were were inspired with love.
