STEP SOFTLY A few illustrations from a picture book written for my very young daughter. She enjoyed all the hidden details of insects, animals and fairies within the pictures. The nocturnal woodmouse was a favourite of hers for many years. The story was based on an old belief that oak pollen falling at midnight on midsummer’s eve reveals the fairy world. This happens to the little woodmouse. Native woodland was familiar to her, the background photo is of our garden in Scotland, part of an ancient forest.
